Halloween Logged: Kids

Matriarch (2018)

Crazy farm family has designs on stranded motorists' unborn baby. Not good.

The School (2018)

Not the worst thing ever but this tale of a nurse trapped in an abanded school/afterlife while searching for her missing son isn't particularly good either.

The Fields (2011)
On one hand Tara Reid, who isn’t as bad as she might have been, on the other hand, Cloris Leachman, who deserves better roles but it’s still great watching her work. The film has its moments.

A Hole in the Ground (2019)

It’s no longer enough to make a horror movie with above-average technical proficiency, and art-house pretensions and expect to be lauded as the next Kubrick. You need a story, you need characters, you need more than pretty pictures. I can get impressive camera work and high production values on basic cable these days. I need a story in order to care, to feel the horror you're trying to deliver. Ten years ago A Hole in the Ground might have been enough. It’s not today.

It is a decent Netflix level slow burn though, with all the attendant cliches and disappointments.

Dollhouse (2012)

Oirish teens behave badly in this meh idea for a short blown up into a nearly unwatchable feature.

Comedown (2014)

Yet another unrewarding low budget urban slasher, this one from the UK.
