flickr frights: Saucer-Men (by Sheepback.Cabin)

A slow week...

... of posting here, I'm afraid. Christmas stuff is monopolizing my time so there may only be a couple of sporadic updates this week. Once the festive season ends I expect to be up and running again with at least daily posting.

Foul Weather Outage

I'm sorry to report your daily dose of stale linkage will not appear today as a particularly nasty storm (is that hail I hear machine gunning the roof?) has made my internet connection extra wonky and it would take hours to visit my favorite blogs.

Hopefully things will be back to normal tomorrow.

Cheers!

From the acclaimed author of Infected comes an epic and exhilarating story of humanity's secret battle against a horrific enemy.

Across America, a mysterious pathogen transforms ordinary people into raging killers, psychopaths driven by a terrifying, alien agenda. The human race fights back, yet after every battle the disease responds, adapts, using sophisticated strategies and brilliant ruses to fool its pursuers. The only possible explanation: the epidemic is driven not by evolution but by some malevolent intelligence.

Thanksgiving'een

black sunday (by senses working overtime)

Sorry to have missed yesterday - the Ravensdeath household has been plagued by an unrelenting stomach bug and all service was disrupted. It'll get quiet again here tomorrow for Thanksgiving.

The Vault of Horror polled the crème de la crème of horror bloggers to come up with a list of the Top 50 Horror Films in response to HMV's earlier, and much discussed. survey on the same topic.

The "Cyber-Horror Elite" Have Spoken: Presenting the Top 50 Horror FIlms of All Time!

I have far fewer disagreements with this list than HMV's - though some of the selections still baffle me:

28. Alucarda (1978) dir: Juan Lopez Moctezuma
38. Thriller (1983) dir: John Landis
39. The Addiction (1995) dir: Abel Ferrara
44. The Mist (2007) dir: Frank Darabont
46. The Living Dead Girl (1982) dir: Jean Rollin
47. The Brain That Wouldn't Die (1962) dir: Joseph Green

Thriller? Really? And am I the only one who thought The Mist was seriously mediocre?

And while I would re-rank many of the titles up or down the mere fact that I basically agree with 44 of 50 choices is something of a miracle.

A great job done by Vault keeper B-Sol and all the bloggers who participated.

Here's a post with many of the titles that didn't quite make the cut.
